From representative democracy to non-separate anarchy
I don’t write about the details of politics, since politics itself in the conventional sense of “who should I vote for” is an effect, not a root cause. To jump over the in-between stages like psychology and empathy, politics is an expression of the illusion of separation; so the only way to move from politics to peace is to move past that illusion. This is in fact the main reason why I feel the calling to teach the Noticing of Connectedness.
Representative democracy – an immature kludge full of problems
Representative democracy has obvious limits regarding working for the good of the people. What we can easily observe is, that it works quite well for a lot of power-hungry and rich people, who using the resources at their disposal manage to get themselves elected. Then, for four to five years, they are not particularly accountable, and meet lobbyists… And after finishing being a parliamentarian, many enjoy lucrative posts on various boards of directors, using their old contacts for the benefit of said companies.
Reading the article Nancy Pelosi’s disdain for the Squad is not a good look for a leader this morning in The Guardian (online) in fact spurred me to write this article. Quoting the linked article:
Pelosi may wax lyrical about the importance of listening to others, but it’s worth noting that the US government is still very much a one-type-of-person show. The majority of lawmakers in Congress are millionaires, for example. Far too many are also related to each other or former politicians. One study found that sons of senators have an 8,500 times higher chance of becoming a senator than an average American male. I don’t want to diminish Pelosi’s achievements at all, but she herself is part of a political dynasty: her dad was a congressman and a three-term mayor of Baltimore. The government may be full of people who call themselves representatives – but they mostly represent an elite sliver of the United States. If we want government to work for the people then it’s imperative that we don’t have the 1% legislating for the 99%. It’s easy to dismiss social justice as “purity politics” when, like Pelosi, you have a net worth of $114m.
Even so, at the current status of the human morphogenetic field, it may well be the best of poor alternatives – better than corrupt, authoritarian communism and (military) dictatorships.
Non-separate anarchy
To quote Wikipedia on anarchy: Anarchy is the state of a society being freely constituted without authorities or a governing body.
Seen from the current status quo, this may conjure up negative pictures of chaos and lawlessness – and indeed, as human beings are right now, it probably would (initially) be like that. But that’s not what I mean. I’m writing about what I term “Non-separate anarchy” – which is what automatically happens in a spiritually mature society. Try to imagine how it would be when each individual can truly say of every other individual: That’s me. How or why would I exploit myself? How could I not respond when I am hungry? How for the love of God could I and some others make war on another group of ourselves? Raving loony bonkers Madness!
Spiritually advanced civilisations have no need of any external governing structure, because all individuals instinctively live their lives for the good and wellbeing of all. This happens partly as individual cognitive processes, but also the individuals are more open to, and connected with, patterns of consciousness at larger, conglomerate levels. Thus the impulses for individual spontaneous decisions and actions are often an expression of a group mind, achieving a harmony of action otherwise not attainable. So in a sense, these “anarchists” do have an organising component – but it is nothing top-down, instead it is an expression of a single group mind, realised within Timeless Informational Connection, in which all are represented.
Examples of non-separate anarchy
For a start: No really advanced societies have anything like money, the whole idea has been dropped. This is because money is a tool born of greed and at the best an expression of not trusting others to do their bit for the common good. This is not conjecture on my part, but knowledge due to my Starseed connections.
Low-Tech example: Let’s start with a very very old race, whose individuals have very meager demands on their environment, so that no individual has unfulfilled material needs or desires. The teaching of the young includes no facts to be learned parrot-fashion, so no schools are needed. Rather, mature individuals drop by on impulse to the communal crèche, and enjoy being and interacting with the young ones. The shelter they need is holes dug in the ground, the little food they require (for the young) is grown by themselves in gardens. Crime is unknown, indeed inconceivable. So: No rich or poor, no striving, winning or losing, no schools, no shops, no elections or government, no news in a conventional sense, no judiciary, no police – and very definitely no armies. Think this sounds boring? To current humans it would be – but the lives of these beings are lived mainly on the inside, in the realms of perception and awareness, in the fullness of Timeless Informational Connection. This makes their lives very vivid and, given a lack of common experience for understanding them, to most humans ineffable.
High-Tech example: Jumping to another extreme: A race of starfarers, who live on space stations and spaceships, with occasional visits to planets to replenish and diversify on stocks of air, water, earth and seeds (their recycling is way beyond anything humans yet have, but small losses are unavoidable). This is a really high-tech civilisation, which entails very advanced personal skills, manufacturing facilities and a high degree of care about all jobs to be performed – or we’ll all be breathing vacuum… How can this work without any governing body? Well, trips on the spaceships are agreed on beforehand, with various roles to be fulfilled, whereby most individuals have more than one skillset. So during the voyage, everyone does what they agreed to do before setting out. There is no captain – whoever is currently in the pilots seat is the effective organiser if anything non-routine crops up.
On the space stations there is a physical jobs board, with lots of slips of paper-equivalent on it, each one listing a job needing doing today, or possibly for several days. By current human thinking this could be organised “more rationally” electronically – but there’s no hurry, no money to be made or lost, no competition forcing cost-cutting. And it’s much nicer to meet others there, to share some words about who fancies doing what while making sure that the important jobs do get done. Who puts the job slips on the board? The individual who takes the slip of paper naming exactly that job does it.
We could consider a lot of other types of beings and civilisations – aquatic societies, hive minds, beings of pure energy – the point is, it can and will work fine as an anarchy – provided the (apparently separate) individuals are grounded in the ultimate truth of the non-separateness of all beings, of all Existence.
Experiencing a group mind
The good news: As individuals we don’t need to wait until the human race has (hopefully) become as advanced as described above, in order to experience what a group mind feels like. With gratitude I include a dear friends brief description of an experience which she had at a spiritualy rooted painting class:
To set the mood for a spiritual painting session, each of the three of us intuitively chose a small strumming or percussion instrument. Afterwards we swayed in a small circle with closed eyes, sinking into the present moment. How would an impulse to play the instrument show up from the divine field? As an intuitive impulse to act, feeling, hand tingling…? In happy suspense I waited patiently and was very careful not to be seduced by the voice of my own mind. The first two, three impulses I let pass, because I was not sure. That is what obviously happened to everyone, because only after a considerable time it started timidly: first one tone …., then a second one, until finally a dynamic, almost a melody became recognisable, in which the small mind immediately wanted to jump in. No chance. Soon I had the impression that an entity with a quality of its own had joined us. Its energetic center of gravity seemed to be in the middle of our circle to close above our heads, from where “It” was playing the melody through us, like a kind of puppet master via invisible strings. Again and again this melody seemed to come to an end, only to rise again. What a beautiful “dance”!
With the agreement of my friend, a few notes of mine on her story:
- She asked herself how an impulse would show up from the divine field. At a deeper level, she and all of us, all of existence, are all expressions of the “divine”, which I call Univeral Awareness and Great Consciousness. It’s important to understand that it is nothing separate from ourselves, we don’t need to wait for its impulses to “show up”, if we are relaxed and connected enough, we notice this. Everything which happens is actually happening through Awareness, shaped by Consciousness – the question is only whether we as individuals notice this.
- She writes about the impression that an entity with a quality of its own had joined them. I would describe this as the noticing of a strengthening group mind – something which is always there in a myriad superpositions of combinations, many immeasurably weak, some localised and comparitively strong. This is similar to how gravity works – it’s strength decreases inversely proportional to the square of the distance between two objects. In a similar way, every focus of consciousness (like you, a bird and that rock on the moon) is connected with every other one – to varying degrees of influence and conglomeration. The bottom line is that everything is connected with everything else – ultimately, all is a unity.
- She mentions the energetic location of the group mind: This is indeed how it works: Mind to Energy to Matter. Ultimately, all is created by Awareness and shaped by Consciousness.
- She also mentions “a kind of puppet master”. I understand the sensation but don’t feel too comfortable with this description – not if it is understood as being a separate instance telling them all what to do. It was their group mind, an expression of their apparently individual consciousnesses actively working together as one. This is not a heteronomy, rather a co-creation. And co-creation is in fact always there, on all levels of conglomeration, as Awareness and Consciousness are One – but this mostly goes unnoticed. See also Patterns of movement in Consciousness.
